The DIY Balcony Kit provides an easy and robust solution for creating a secure and stylish outdoor balcony platform without major renovations. This product is designed for homeowners and DIY enthusiasts. It includes two heavy-duty corbel-style support brackets, railings, and all necessary hardware, allowing you to build a durable and aesthetically pleasing balcony.
Key Features:
- Heavy-Duty Corbels:
- The balcony is supported by two high-strength, decorative steel corbel brackets rated to hold 2,180 lbs. These brackets are built to withstand much more than the 60 lb/sqft load required by International Building Codes (IBC) for balconies, ensuring exceptional safety and reliability.
- The brackets feature perforations on the flange, allowing DIYers to attach timber framing components securely. To build a robust deck platform, use a 1.5" x 4" timber or an entire 2x6 wood piece attached to the corbels. The rest is built with standard 2x4 lumber.
- Customizable Decking Platform:
- The DIY kit allows flexibility for users to create their desired platform. After constructing the frame on the brackets using provided instructions and hardware, the decking can be completed with wood, composite, or other preferred decking material.
- The platform dimensions are 58" wide and 36" deep, offering ample space for outdoor use.
- Optionally, the bottom of the platform can be enclosed with a cementitious board or other suitable materials for a finished look.
- Collapsible Railings:
- The kit has high-quality, black powder-coated steel railings that enhance safety and complement the overall aesthetic. The railing height is available in 36" or 42" based on the customer's preference.
- The railings are delivered collapsed for easy assembly. Once installed, they are securely bolted to the frame using lag bolts and additional connection points to the house for maximum stability.
- Strong and Secure Installation:
- The corbel brackets and the railings are designed to attach securely to the house using six heavy-duty lag bolts per bracket, ensuring the balcony becomes a solid, integrated building extension.
- Detailed instructions and all necessary hardware are provided, making it simple to follow along and build a safe, code-compliant balcony.
- Two Size Options:
- This DIY balcony kit comes in two standard widths, 58" and 70", with no difference in price or materials. The depth remains at 36" for both options.
- This versatility allows customers to choose the appropriate width to fit their space while benefiting from the same reliable structure and easy assembly process.
Applications: Perfect for installing outside French doors or windows, the DIY Balcony Kit can transform any home facade, adding functional outdoor space while enhancing curb appeal. The elegant corbel design provides structural support and brings a decorative, classic look to any exterior.
